I had the amazing opportunity to work with Tami Jones on the brand design of her Kirkland, WA pilates business, The Union Method. Tami had great vision and direction for elements that she wanted included in her brand design, making it so fun to put her ideas up on the screen.
My favorite part of the design process is talking with clients about their small business. I always leave the conversations feeling so energized and inspired, and talking to Tami was no exception.
Tami explained The Union Method as “a Pilates regime that aims to unite body, mind and soul.” She plans to initially offer basic Pilates classes, and eventually grow her business to include classes that incorporate props, weights, and cardio exercises. When I asked Tami what she loves about pilates, she said “The great thing about Pilates is that it is appropriate for everyone – young, old, male, female, very active or not so active.” Although her main target will be mostly women, she hopes to market to men as well, striving to make them feel welcome and feel like they can benefit from the workout.
When asked what actress would play her in a feature film about her life story (an obviously very technical question) 🙂 Tami said Charlize Theron. Love it.
Tami’s final brand design incorporates a charcoal and garnet color palette, with a unique blend of simplistic-modern and elegant-traditional typography. The circular monogram seal works well alongside the text, as well as above for a square format, and even alone for a clean, simple look.
